I did it on my old 95 tercel, which should be similar to your car. As long as you can get all of the big suspension bolts undone, you're half way there. The other half is getting the wheel nut off (and having the right socket), and prying the joint out of the trans (because its in there with an internal clip).
Took me a day, and I wasn't exactly an awesome mechanic at the time. No Haynes manual either.
