Rode a pay and ride chopper this weekend.
My buddy just picked up two choppers to giveaway at a trade show for his company, so he stopped by my house after picking them up and let me take a spin on one of them. It was some ultra-stretched, 50 degree rake, Jesse James knockoff (like all of them), with a 100ci Revtech v-twin hooked up to a 5 speed tranny.
With the rake, the stretch, and the rigid frame, it was absolutely horrible to ride. It turned like a bus, and every little bump sent the thing into an unpredictible rear bounce. Straight down the highway though, it was like a rail, so I guess it had its good and its bads for handling.
The engine was amazingly poweful. From idle to rev limit, this thing pulled HARD. In 1st or 2nd, while rolling, a pull on the throttle would bust the rear tire loose. I swear, the top of 3rd must've been 100mph and it had two more gears to go. I think the Revtech 100 is rated at 110hp/115tq or something like that, it was really bad ass to have that much power underneath me.
Now, the only real saving grace beside the motor (which I could buy and stick in a much better riding setup, like my stock Harley), was the cool factor. You can't help but look like Billy Badass on a 9 foot bike with a front tire so far away you can't kick it while sitting. Also, the thing must've rode 3 inches from the ground, so it was just a sled. Very cool stance and very cool seating position. It would definitely work to pick up sluts if it had any sort of rear passenger capability.
Overall, I wouldn't waste my money on one though. It's not funcitonal enough for daily riding or long trips. I'd rather just hotrod a stock old school or at least old school looking bike.
Cliffnotes: I rode a chopper. Horrible ride, stupid fast, and incredibly cool.
