Well...to be more specific look for a May 92 or newer build. I personally have grown to love the looks of the pop-ups but the 92.5+ models have stronger rear-ends and xfer cases. The 90 model has many eccentricities that you dont even want to find out about (electrical problems TB difference shifter) and only one you would (external air-cooled oil cooler). The 93+ AWDs have better brakes also but all of this is easy to swap out (save for the 90 wiring harness and the fact the xfer case tranny rear-end of the 90-92.5 adds an extra expense).
Personally Id say 93-94 AWDs only...
Then again Buschur is running 10.5s in a 91 without problems but its been lightened just a bit (around 400 lbs.).
