Deleting EGR Function From EEC-IV
I have a spare mass air 8LD EEC-IV. I don't have any emissions equipment anymore. I want to do away entirely with the EGR on my car. Currently it is disconnected and non-functional even when it is. It is my understanding that as long as the EEC-IV is still trying to read the EGR signal there will continue to be detonation after the motor is hot. I have played around with the timing and fuel considerably and can't get rid of the half throttle ticking I have at hot cruising speeds. Can I just have the EEC-IV reprogrammed without having to take the car to a dyno? I've never dynoed the car, but can't afford it either. I'd rather let the car surprise me anyway. This is something I'm just looking into before the really hot weather gets here when the detonation gets worse. Since I have two EEC-IV I don't have to worry about the car being down to get the spare EEC wherever I need to take it if possible.
