Yes, they will learn to some degree, but A/Fs are limited. To go as lean as you want to go with race fuel you need something to either re-map the ecu or a piggy back.

In my Evo there are two fuel maps.. What I've done is re-mapped the low octane map to 93 octane settings (instead of 87), and the high octane map to 100. That way I can go to the track fill-up with 100 and raise the boost a little.
