Dont waste your time with an 85 older tank, the fuel pickup in those things is a coffee straw. Either sump a late model tank and use decent size fuel lines, or if the car is serious enough use a fuel cell. Either way, any carbed car should run fuel lines that carry good volume and a pump that is designated for use with a carb, low pressure but high volume. What pump and what size lines will depend mostly a whole lot on your intended use for the car and its power output esp if nitrous is involved. Fuel injection stuff modified to work for a carb is just the wrong approach IMO but I would def run an electric fuel pump mounted somewhere close to the tank instead of a mechanical pump.
