C prepared power is not the best to learn on. You could build a decent regionally competitive and streetable ESP car and have fun with that. There's a sticky with a link to the rule book which give legal street prepared mods - take a look at that before you do too much. Of course, sunriders and PCA don't care what you do as everything runs in the same class anyway. Sunriders is a great place to start in my opinion.
