Of course weight makes a difference.You still seem to be missing the point. Your setup and the Cobra's are not the same. Remember we're talking 8 cylinders vs 4 cylinders here, not 2400 lbs vs 3800 lbs. Drop a V8 in an identical car as yours (or a 240Z ) and see if you can still hang.

Not too long ago, I had a '64 Falcon with a carbed 302, stock 3 speed tranny but it was stripped and weighed in little more than your car does. It cranked out a whole 320 hp. It ran low 12's like clockwork. Torque 'r' us.
