Wow, this thread has gotten far afield, but no worries. All I will say to your post is, there is a reason AWD is banned or heavily penalized by additional weight in professional motorsports. More grip=better traction=faster lap times. Auto-xing is one thing, circuit racing is quite another, that much is true, but FWD is NEVER, EVER, EVER the best setup to go faster in any form of motorsport that I am aware of. It may work in certain auto-x classes, but I believe it is Miatas and other RWD platforms dominating the run-offs, especially before suffering the weight penalties put on wining cars like those in the Speed TC class.
