Using that logic then I guess a 109mm mass air meter would work just as good right?
I understand what you are saying but there is such a thing as too big even with mass air meters. The air velocity has nothing to do with what is being metered, the air is still going to have less velocity going through the bigger meter. I specifically remember dyno tests that where done with different meters and the larger ones had made less tq because of this reason.
