well first, your head should be no where near the roll bar points. if you are talking cage (10 pt +) then ok. i gotcha.
also, NHRA requires padding on all the bars for this exact reason. why not put padding on the bars if you feel uncomfortable with this idea?
Its the hoop i'm worried about. The sides .. well.. those can be made removable. But once you get a cage made that hugs the interior, the padding adds so much. For driving on a saturday night, you dont want to put the whole 5 point belt on.. then if you have an accident, your head will more than likely have contact. I know its a dam'd if you do.. dam'd if you dont.
While the NHRA requires padding, most of the cars I see dont have it on. Also on the side bars padding is an issue. Lose the back seat, get a custom drivers set, the pain in the ass belts, the noise, etc..
They want to get cars of off the street, but then impose rules that make them go elsewhere. I feel much safer in this car at 130 than my 65 Mustang at 90 MPH. Guess this is why they changed the rules this year to 11.49 NHRA. See if BMP follows. May just do 1/8 mile then shut it down at BMP..
And I know sure as shit.. put the cage on. car will slow down
