it is able to be done for less than $500 if you can weld yourself. the ITB from a bike cost nomore than $150. then you need some welding and a free b16a manifold. how is that $1k?
but to answer the original question, to run well you would need a custom ecu setup. there is a script for CROME. that allows half of you fuel map to be run off your map sensor and half to run on TPS readings. this is because your map sensor is useless after about 1/2 throttle when using ITB's because you loose all vacume before full throttle. It takes alot to get them to run correctly.
