Hey, look man... No one is trying to be a d*ck, it's just that while these questions do come up often... People are often steered in the direction of less powerfull bikes to start with because the throttle etc. is not at touchy and the bike is easier to control... If you have never ridden before, you may want to consider something like the Yamaha YZF600R, an older Yamaha FZR, a Suzuki Katana, Ninja 500, or something similar... These bikes will be more forgiving for a beginning rider, and increase the chances of your survival. Bikes are dangerous things, and often times people purchase too much bike to start with and end up dead or hospitalized... Just think about it... It's your life, and your limbs...
I for one have lost friends in MC accidents, and know someone paralyzed, and someone that had their finger chopped off. I hope you make the right choice, and wish you the best of luck with your purchase. Realize that here in bike tech we are sarcastic and rude with each other all the time, but it's all in good fun. Don't let the sarcasm get to you, after riding a while you will look back at CopMagnet's comment and laugh your arse off. Until then good luck with your bike purchase and keep the rubber side down...
