Honestly the first time I saw a Subaru I was back home on leave after being in Kuwait. This was back in I think 1999 and a kid I went to highschool with had a WRX with that chamelion paint on it and it looked really nice.
They didn't offer the WRX in the states until 2002, before that the highest option package for Impreza was the 2.5RS.
Steve, by all accounts that I've heard, the reason there was no coupe was because of sales figures. The coupes weren't generating a high enough percentage of total sales for Subaru to continue to keep them in the line up.
