That also works fine but the radar detector on K and Ka bands is going to most effective mounted up high. If you're worried about laser the detector isn't going to do any good in 99% of all situations anyways and you should look into a laser shifter.

The laser shifters/jammers are very effective on most vehicles installed and used correctly. The setup will set you back $250-$500 bucks. I've had the Escort unit on my wishlist for a while now. The BMW M5 forums also do a groupbuy occasionaly on another well proven unit.
