Hey man, I wasn't trying to attack you! I was just like, holy shit, do we !??! I had to call up Ray just to make sure! Maybe you talked to Jason, and I know at one point that a giken gearbox was on the agenda, but we never got aroudn to it. I'm sorry if I came off the wrong way.
I have this 6 speed just sitting here, it's brand new. I would love to put it into a 240SX, but if you want it, you can have it for pretty cheap. Maybe a nice street car KA or something. I have the driveshaft for it as well.
Regardless, I agree with you that it is the driveline shock that kills the transmissions. 90% of the time you end up snapping the output shaft ona hard launch. Derek Greaser with a fully stripped coupe and 350whp ran a 10.9 in his car witha 1.44 60' time. He stressed that you had to be as gentle as possible getting it out of the hole though, and if you listen to it, it is. He's about the best 240sx driver I've ever met, and even driving ont he street he is very smooth about it. He uses high rpms and alot of slip to get it out of the hole, and it works. He's never broken a transmission in his old drag car, for the record.
Were looking more at getting down into the 1.2 60ft times with more power than what I have now which is the reason we went with the stage 4 twin plate kit from exedy. Great cluth, but very harsh even if you launch soft. With that clutch and trying to ride it as much as possible, the most passes I have been able to get out of it is 4 with an sr or ka which is the same internals and their not high milage just 60k. The reason we did this is, I can still swap back to the ka/sr with a different clutch setup and run it on the street, and also this trans will allow me to drop the clutch off the rev limiter(7500) and not have to worry about breaking. I have broken 6 of the sr's in the last 3 months-2-output shafts-2-stripped every tooth off of third gear-2-broke 5th and reverse shaft of inside the trans inside a pressed gear. Not only will the motor be built over the winter but the rest of my suspension for drifting will be done and the 5lug so I will be able to go either direction next year with aound a half days labor for setup. looking to get around 550-600rwhp on the 62-1 turbo and 400-450 on the super 60 t3-t4 with quicker spool up ime for drifting.
Also sorry about the misunderstanding , no problem.
