I had a 87 LX with off road h-pipe and 2 chamber flowmasters and the car was loud but had no low end torque. I put the stock h-pipe back on and it made a world of difference. You definitely need some backpressure. I believe the car would backfire or pop if you revved it up too, and that just ain't cool. Flowmaster 2 chambers sound pretty cool and are loud, too. In that car, with the off road h-pipe, you couldn't have a conversation while the car was running. That was also with turn-downs. Good Luck!!
