yikes! I probably would have just checked the magnetic drain plug first. Although, hind sight is 20-20. Any missing teeth should have shown up there. It might just be a bad input shaft bearing.
You'd be surprised...nothing ever showed up on my drain plug in either incident with my tranny...and the missing pieces were never found even after we opened the case and dug around...oh well....
