the little celica that couldn't
So here I am on Gulf To Bay on the way back from a friend's house minding my own business when a 2001-2002 Celica GT-S rolls up besides me. Thinking nothing of it I continued my 40mph pace to the light for 19 N. when the 30 year old attention-starved jackass whips in front of me to get in the turning lane first. I'm sure he got a good rise out thinking how easily his fast approaching middle aged bald spots and 180hp of 4 cylinder fury just cut off 2 guys in a Firebird. I was in a good mood and about to let him go until I saw him drop the hammer at the light and start weaving in and out of traffic. Who does this goon think he is? To me a chase is a hell of a lot more fun than drag racing so I gave him a few seconds to make some distance before I closed the gap. We look over and there he is grinning ear to ear like he actually stood a chance. I dropped to 4th gear to let this guy know he just messed with a 300HP straightpiped LT-1. As the sound of my engine resonated and set off car alarms in the nearby parking lots I figured this guy would get smart and back off a little. Instead he insisted he could do this and tried several times to advance on me. After his 4th or 5th attempt I dropped to 3rd right around 70mph and watched his headlights fade into the darkness then resumed the posted speed limit. As we approached the last curve before the overpass we notice the little Celica finally caught up and was ready for the 90mph patented ricer flyby so i let him get about a car length behind me before dropping to 3rd once more. His car never got as close as my rear bumper for even a second as I put about a half a mile of distance between us on the overpass. He behaved himself after that.
