Yeah, 96+ are 8mm wider per side. Not a whole lot, but it is a difference. You probably could have played around with the spacers in the CC plates to drop the struts down.
You'll definitely need a new Master Cylinder with the rear disks. I'm using one from an SN95 V6 mustang (pretty cheap and works well). But you'll need to get in there and re-do the brake lines and figure out a proportioning valve arrangement (I don't run one and my brakes are fine).
