have you checked for spark?
Also wouldent hurt to check for fuel.

to check for fuel, go ahead and pull the rubber line off the end of the fuel rail and crank the motor over a couple times... if fuel starts spitting all over the back of the engine out of the fuel rail... then all is good there... Car should start even if the gas is bad... you can always work out running conditions and driveability after it works.

check to see if you have spark, and Then I would see if you can adjust the distributor a bit to see if you can advance the timing to get it to start. If that works then I would see about timing the car. I have learned recently that the crank sensors go out a bit on these 1.8L engines and they are part of the distributor assembly. Therefore... best way to do things is to check Engine codes... either with a datalogger or by flashing them out with an analog meter. If you pull a crank sensor code.... off to the junkyard with ya. 1991-1994 1.8L SOHC eclipse/talon/laser

Hope this gives you a good place to start with the car.
