I don't know where you get the idea that a prototype of it is driving around. Toyota & Lexus never put VINS on their prototypes, so they aren't legal to drive. You can tell if it's a prototype by the driver's door jam. There will be a light colored stamp metal riveted to the B-pillar or door edge with "Px" on it (where x is the number of the prototype).
Toyota and Lexus have almost always been very secretive of their cars in development and the only pics of them usually only come out about 6 months in advance of when they debut.
I didn't even know what the Lexus RX330 looked like until two months before it came out, and I was the damn inventory manager. The GX470 was almost the same way, except they had one for us to all look and touch at a Lexus Ride & Drive.
If they were to release the Supra, it would most likely be on the same chassis as the Lexus SC430 (this would explain the V
like it's always been. The only picture out of all the prototypes I've seen on the internet that even comes close to the current SC is ...

The next Supra will in fact NOT have an inline 6 engine. Toyota will be replacing all inlines for V-formation engines when each model's redesign come up (as of March 23rd, 2004).
If the next Supra is not on the current SC chassis, expect it to probably be based on the Toyota FXS concept car chassis and to also expect the SC to follow shortly afterwards.
everything I am quoting is STRAIGHT from the source. I am just giving you guys the information.. and YES there is a MKV driving around in California with a MFG. plate whether you think so or not.
