Was he running the OBD2b ecu in the 97 civic? If so, he either did some healthy rewiring or he had a conversion harness in it. Both of your setups are OBD2a. You can not interchange the engine harnesses between the Integra and Civic. Depending on the model of the civic he had.....or I guess the engine harness model....you will only need to make minor wiring adjustments. If he has the OBD2a EX civic model engine harness, all the vtec wiring is there. You will only need to add the IAB wiring or swap intake manifolds. If you have a different model engine harness, you will need to add the vtec, etc and also possibly the IACV wire conversion depending on the model.
