Default A new use for the headlight pop up button.

Do you have a 3 projector sil front and are wondering what to do with that now worthless headlight pop up button? Make it a switch for the foglights of course.

When I was wiring my foglights today, I decided that I didn't want an ugly switch or a bunch of errant wires running through the firewall, so I busted out the digital volt meter and did some digging around. Here are the brief steps:

1. Find worthless dangling plug for the old headlight motors.
2. When you look at the front of the plug, there will be a place for 6 wires total. In the row with one wire missing, use a voltage tester to find the wire that goes hot when the headlight pop up button is depressed.
3. Obtain cheesy APC foglight wiring kit and strip it of all of the crapass white sheething, redo with black.
4. Find the headlight motor relay in the main underhood fusebox (grey one) and remove it. Probe the middle row to find the constant 12 v. Run the constant power wire from the foglight relay to this. Just put a male spade connector on the wire and plug it in.
5. Wire the relay and lights as you normally would with the switched 12v going to the wire that goes hot when the headlight button is depressed.

That's it!

The foglights will now go on and off at any time, you can even turn the foglights off while the regular lights are on, which is nifty. Just make sure to hit that button before you get out of the car.
