Ronnie Duke does have some serious cash in that car. He still owes the people that put it together a TON of cash. He just plopped down a wad and said make it run 8s.
Harlans on the other hand was done mostly by himself...with help from a select few others.
And most of you know my philosophy on turbos. They are great for a max effort where you want to maximize a setup for a given cubic inches. In any V8 of decent size I would say atleast 700+ rwhp. Up until that point however...I like nitrous for the cost and simplicity of setup. And not many people will ever be exceeding that 700+ rwhp mark.
So to me...having a V8 turbo that makes 400-450-500 is kind of a waste.
If and when I go Turbo...I wouldnt even think about it unless I planned to be in excess of 900 hp. Even then...I will be near that number on nitrous with a measly 385 ci..
I could care less about the cool factor. I want to go consistanly fast. And up to 700 or so rwhp...nitrous is tough to beat. More than that...and you must consider a turbo.
