I thought about a SR swap once but I couldn't bring my self to build a "same make hybrid" again. The SR has advantages but it's nothing that could ever change my mind about the 2 motors. The SR has more potential stock for stock, but that's comparing a FI motor to a NA motor. It's also easier/cheaper to make more power but that quickly falls apart when the HP starts climbing. The VG may not be as powerful in NA form, but it has more potential once you turbo it.
While FI may be a replacement for NA displacement, but the bigger motor will still outshine the smaller one given equal power adders (turbos,n2o, etc.)
*edit* I'm only talking motor to motor. How it works in different cars is an entirely new subject
