It all depends on how much material has been lost from the rod.
To repair worn and damaged rods we cut the cap and rod several thousands of an inch and then machine the newly oval and undersized hole to the correct spec.
If you bring it by the shop we can measure it for you to find out.
Even if rod bearings don't spin, over time the cyclic stresses eventually make rod journal holes go oval and beyond spec which is one of the reason that rod bearings will spin.
For that reason its a good reason to have your rods resized as part of any rebuild.
Resizing rods is one of my jobs at EL.
Even though my 930 rods were still perfect after 130K miles I resized mine anyways.
If you are switching to performance fastners like ARP its also something you should do since the new fastners are likely to distort the rods more than the stock bolts would.
