There's no reason a stock mustang should run at 230. My car ran at 158 degrees no matter what unless I was really beating the crap out of it. If its run that hot for that long, it may have cooked the headgasket. What you may want to do is when its cold, fire it up, let it idle with the radiator cap off until you see the coolant moving fast (which shows the thermostat open) and check the water level then, its quite possible you have an air pocket somewhere.
It doesn't run at 230, it runs at 210.It has reached up to 250 before due to rapid water loss.
If there is an air pocket, how would I get rid of it? I understand without full pressure or an air pocket, I make steam and therfore cook water which drains the rad.
