Good info!
I was talking to Kevin from C&R Racing who makes high performance radiators for race applications and was venturing/testing out some radiator/spal fan combos for the import market, mainly the Nissan 180/240sx with swapped motors. He had stated that because of the fin count on some of the aftermarket radiators matched even with dual electric fans cooling would still be an issue.
He was working on a radiator/fan combo that would beat out the typical Koyo/Fal combo while only running one electric fan. But due to the demand of his test kits and lack of radiators he suggested in the meantime to do exactly what you did. Either purchase a cooling panel for below the car and/or infront of the radiator or make your own.
He said it would dramatically reduce the heat and force more cool air coming through to actually enter and cool the radiator(or something to that effect). Also talked about running Water Wetter and Distilled water, but thats another topic in itself.
