Cooling Issues < by aerodynamics!
Pre-solution Dont read if in hurry....
As some of you might know I have had cooling problems with my SR for qutie some time, At first my water pump blew. So I had to do a quick 411 and get a new one, I called up my people, and scoot and mattback had one at the place formaly known as Secret Services. Great, so after that I figured it would not be wise to use the stock mechanical fans, so I used the Flex-a-Lites that I had laying around my house. Well I first discovered that I had a cooling issue, when I was riding home from estavan's after he fixxed my problem (bad ECU) After that I got a koyo, but not even the 3 times as big as stock radiator koyo could fix my problems!
Solution!
I finally thought of a reason of why my car was overheating when I turned on the AC (it was ok, aslong as I didnt turn on the AC, but this is florida...I need my AC, R12 baby) I soon relized that all the air that was entering the front bumper went though my intercooler, and under the car. Well when this happens no air flow goes though the radiator or AC condensor making the car run hot. Last weekend I made a panel out of thin aluminum using rivits to hold it in place. Holy Jebus! did I make a difference! before the panel if I turned on the AC the car would go past 200 degrees andupwards of 225 degree's within 15 minutes of me turning the AC on, with the panel under the car and the AC on full blast i rarley see temps past 180F. This is the best mod I have done yet, and the best part is it only costs like 10 dollars. Now I can run the car all the time with AC, and never worry about overheating...of course this is when summer is ending so I wont get to much use till next summer. If any of you with koyo's have some cooling issues. I would look to this as a good soild solution!
