Just incase anyones interested............
Ive been asking everyone about the 987-16 valve springs as opposed to the 986-16 valve springs. Everyone has been saying 987-16s. Yet I go over to the box that contained the cc305 cam and pull out a yellow sheet showing its specs. And at the bottom it says that Comp Cams recommends a 986. Then i call up comp cams and the tech support says that i need a 987! I am sooo confused. Dan who is helping with the install tried to explain it to me.. And showed me with the spring compressor but im still confused. Im going to give this a shot but im still confused as hell...
1.800ths is the install height we want. This is what 987s would work with. 130 foot pounds would be achieved at 1.800ths. But with the height we have were showing 155 foot pounds. What i think happened is that the seats that i got were to tall and wont clear under the valve covers with 987s? So in order to use the same seats instead of thin metal shims im going to have to get Valve keepers at 10 degree and +.050 ths. They are part number 614-16 at Jegs (going to Jegs since summit are morons). Another 3 hour road trip. Or i could have got seats with offsets so the valve would sink further in...
So I wonder if Jordan and mike think i took off the heads to grind them down some so teh 987s would fit. ??
Im letting my friend Dan tell me whats going on with the valves cuz he runs a shop builds engines for a living and for pleasure. Wedensday night she should (pray to GOD) be running.
