Your mechanic probably isn't well versed in performance parts. Get a 255 in tank and that should be fine for most mods you want to do under 450hp and will still be plenty reliable. For the price difference between a 155/190/255 go with the 255lph. It would be a waste to put a stock pump in there. Make sure you put a new filter in also.
I would figure no more than $250-$275 for the whole job including parts.
