Have you talked to Jerry to ask about a tranny rebuild yet? It might not be that bad depending on what you want done. It could also be something as simple as an improperly adjusted clutch pedal- where in the range does your clutch disengage? If it's not high enough you might not be getting full disengagement or not getting it soon enough, that could cause grinding. Also remember to raise the cruise control switch/clutch pedal upper stop when you adjust the master cylinder to raise the disengagement point. Try bleeding the clutch line, also check for leaks in the master and slave boots as if they go bad they might not build enough pressure for full disengagement on a fast shift. Do the clutch pedal play test when you have the cruise switch backed off just for the heck of it.
If all that fails, just don't beat on your car until you have the money to get the tranny rebuilt.
