Hmmmmmm . . . lets see . . . what racing series are actually running now? F1? not yet. ALMS? not yet. Touring car? no not yet. CART? not yet. IRL? nope. Grand-Am? yes the 24hrs. Did speedvision cover it? Check. Oh NASCAR season is starting with the biggest event of the year. Should Speedvision/Speed channel cover it? Of course they should. Or would you rather watch 6 month old re-runs of guys named Luigi and Mario go off-roading?

Speed channnel is not a charity. They go where the ratings are. Current and timely coverage brings viewers. If you want to complain about something complain about how open wheel racing split into IRL/CART and lessened the appeal. Or complain about road racing being split between ALMS and Grand-AM. NASCAR has done everything right to market their product to the majority non-gearhead audience. The other major sanctioning organizations FIA included have only been successfull at driving away the casual viewer. And that my friends is where the money is.

That said some of you fancy yourselves roadracers and have auto-Xed or done track days. Has anybody that posts here ever run ovals? I doubt it or there would be more appreciation for the art. That is what it is. Ive done both and know from my own experiences that I learned way more about chassis setup on ovals than RRing. And what I learned from running ovals translated better to road course setup than vice-versa.

A lot of you have preconceived notions that domestic cars or oval racing is some redneck embarrassment. Open your minds You might just learn something.

BTW How can anyone call 43 cars running in Dale Mabry style traffic at 190mph boring? And at the same time love the excitement of watching an F1 race where passes are a rare thing the seperation between cars is longer than the lap time at most NASCAR tracks and realisticly only 6 cars max have a shot at winning.

Watching a Dale Earnhardt of Jeff Gordon see the draft and work their car brings me just as much joy as watching Michael Schumacher carve a wet track.

Peace
