I'm on the 3OOZX's side of this war, but the Supra TT started in 89 when the 1JZ twin turbo was availible in the Mk3. They sold more, and eventually it became time for them to redesign the looks of it. Keep in mind they sold more in 86.5 then they did entirely of Mk4s. Hell they sold more in 89 alone then they did for all years Mk4. I'm not sure that the Mk4 was meant to compete with the 3OOZX, however it did give a big jump for Nissan.
