the problem is that half the time, people half ass things. Half a kit, shitty paint job, wrong offset wheels, small brakes, big wing on fwd car, big wing on any car. These things are what people hate. If you have big wheels, you should have big brakes, otherwise it's half assed. Wheels shouldnt be sunk under or stick out from the car, and should be tasteful in general. Then again, you could have ALL of these things and have it be overdone. The worst thing I think is people that build their car with no sense of purpose or goal whatsoever. Those are the cars that stick out the worst

I have 17'" wheels on my 200SX which has improved the handling greatly, but it also has dwarfed my rotors. I'm going to spare you the story about the ordeal I went through trying to upgrade my brakes.
