ok so my mechanic just called me...

He says that they pulled the car in last nigth and the noise was there but it was running. But this mornign they couldnt get it to start so they did a compression test and got nothing so he told me it looks like the Timing belt dropped...

So he proceddes to tell me the engine is non-interferance (or somethign liek that) and that he can put a new belt on for 275.00 and the car may or may not run. But he recommends a new timign belt and head work because the fact teh belt failed may have taken the valves with it.

Is what he saying true or not? He said to do the head work and new belt im looking at over 1000.00

Am I being ripped off?

What do you think?
