I like the nitch market motorsports has. Granted, I don't get to see as many races as I'd like but if it had the fan following the NFL or NBA has it would be bastardized and ruined just like they have been.

You are right. That is the way all pro sports are. It is not about the sport...but the money. No one cares who wins or loses, just how much money can be made from the sporting event.
