You can upgrade that 331 in this article to a SVO R block which makes the price go from $3500 to about $4,750 and then it is good to 1,200 h.p. ! And we are not talking about a 400 inch motor here either.
LS1 is still a better buy. Who cares if it is just a tad bigger.
A DSM, 122cubic inch 4g63 can make over 1000hp on the stock crank and block. I dont know of any ford or GM that can say that.But at the same time no DSM has made 1500 hp yet. I guess size does matter.If i was building anouther V8 right now it would be a no brainer. And it wouldnt be a ford.
