yeah but the rods bearings are flat but yeah Ill fess up one time I did a valve adjustment and my dumb as was turning the motor clockwise instead of counterclockwise and the valves ended up being loose but the car would at least start i couldnt figure it out why they were so damn loose so I said fuck the feeler guage im just gonna tighten them till they dont feel loose at all (you make bad decisions when youre drinking) went to start the car lets just say I could here the crank turning and the pistons coming up but damn where the hell did my compression go. Thats when I busted out the helms to see what I was doing wrong and as I read the step about turning the crank counterclockwise (which I already knew to do just didnt dawn to me I was turning the wrong way) I realized what the hell the problem was.
Sounds like you tightened em so much that you actually caused the valves to unseat. Too much beer will make you do some interesting things on cars I know Ive had my share like upside down LCAs.
