I don't know if it's the same thing, but I installed the cdt cl-6x's in my mom's truck one at a time because I was running 16 gauge (stock=~22, lol) to them and it was a pain in the ass. I pretty much cranked them right out of the box, and on each one I found that the midbass sucked out of the box but got much better after a bit of play time. It was very noticeable, especially when fading left to right between a new speaker and one that had seen an hour or so of music.
That's basically the exact same concept. A mid is just a smaller version of a sub anyways.
