I pretty much cranked them right out of the box, and on each one I found that the midbass sucked out of the box but got much better after a bit of play time. It was very noticeable, especially when fading left to right between a new speaker and one that had seen an hour or so of music.
That's basically the exact same concept. A mid is just a smaller version of a sub anyways.
