Old KA powahs here

so.. cost tally. Goals are just to have proper tuning and excellent cooling so that this car can take a few trackdays at sebring and not start detonating to all hell after a few laps.

Megasqiurt = 200-750 after wiring and depending on accessories and sensors and stuff
Manifold = 250-550 or so depending on log style or runner style
Clutch (spec 3) redrilled for KA = 400 or so?
walburo = 120
FPR = already own but if its broken then 150 + 15 for lil gauge
MAN Fuel Filter = own but if broken then 150
DSM injectors = 200 or so max?
Exhaust = 80(straightpipe)-380 (megan racing) - 450 (apexi)
Downpipe = 150?
Boost controller = 200-300 profec B or B spec II (gotta play it safe)
turbo timer = 100 (being safe as I can
MAN RADIATOR AND FANS = 400-500

Now for turbos I have a few options.

Used Z31 T3 for like 50 dollars or free
Used SR T25 for like 100 prob
Possibly a T3 T4 of some kind, but now price is going way up
Disco potato (lol more of a joke, but Scott did say it might do better on KA than SR, but more money than I wanna spend) 1250
S15 turbine (this sounds really fun and aabout 500)

so most expensive parts i can buy will run about 4135 (using S15 or T3-T4) or so. On the cheaper side of turbos, exhausts, and only running the fuel controlled megasquirt I am around 2350. Add the spark control and maybe 2500? So after guages, misc parts that act stupid and other things 3000-5000 is what i'd spend?

You cant get a basic clip swap anywhere for that. I'm not out to beat SR's, that isnt my goal. With an SR I wanted to have 300whp daily driver that is safe, reliable, and can be track day'd and drifted. That would cost me at least 8K with a blacktop to get it perfect.

But considering most SR's for 4400 or so have only sidemounts and basic swap components, I can see both of us for the same price making 200-210whp? maybe? Plus I dont have to worry about the law or insurance as much as an SR (a moot point but valid). Replacement engines are easy to find for SOHC KA, I'd prob run really low boost and be building a spare motor on the side for educational purposes.

OK gurus, what am i missing (besides labor)... Go head and stamp hard on this one, I'm not trying to beat an SR for ultimate power, but I think I can get the same reasonable goals for cheaper. If I want to get into the 280 - 300whp range I'll be hitting the line of where the SR is cheaper, but I really wouldnt have to go that far to have fun with the car, even 200whp would be lots of fun compared to 118-125 or so LOL
