Which is an out and out lie. My family lost one to an errant metal shaving in one of the oiling holes for the crank. A simple once over with an air nozzle attachment would have blown it right out. It ended up beating up that main bearing so badly that it spun a few rod bearings along the way. The whole motor was yanked and replaced. Old motor was shipped back to Ford for analysis. As a result, we had a 2000 build date motor in a 1999. I am sure that I could source the VIN number and have someone do a warranty check at a Ford dealer.
You know, I was just going to mention that, because you told me about it back when we were looking at the '99. I guess they decided to keep that one on the DL.
