there was a rare twin turbo version i dont know how it got like that but there was a few not sure if factory or not.
i would let al or mark answer this they both have mr2 turboes.
from my experiences helping al work on his car its not that bad if u know what you are doing. it is truly amazing that the engineers managed to get room behind the seats and still have a nice sized engine bay. alot bigger in there than it looks. but yet still small. definately kinda hard to work on when everything is put together like if u are trying to mess with the turbo assembly/downpipe area while still on car.
toyota also has the most expensive parts departments out of all import car companies and most domestic ones too. only parts departments that have more expensive parts are gonna be your exotics. toyota is right up there with bmw/benz when it comes to parts prices. but there are many sites that have parts wholesale.
and austin is right hard to find a decent one i looked but insurance reasons and rarity/price played a part. u can buy an n/a and just put a turbo motor in and that will equal about the price of finding a really good conditioned turbo model.
