Power to weight is a factor to consider. But once the vehicles are rolling it does not play as big a part as it would if the race was from a dig. My old 88 Lincoln MK VII LSC would be toast off the line racing a same year Mustang GT (Both have the same 5.0 HO motor). But from a roll I could hang with it no problem. I think the Lincoln was about 800 lbs heavier.
