Ok weve all been there you get a bolt on product you set aside 30 minutes to put this product on and have plans to go somewhere afterwards. Its just a bolt on no biggy so you pull the car in the garage and get to work you got places to go. So bam you get the old part off a breeze and bam all the fucking sudden you run into a problem and that 30 minutes is now going to take the hole fucking day. So go ahead and tell your install gone bad story.
Ill start first. So I pick up a cam gear make plans with my g/f she lives out in BFE (bum fucking egypt for those of you not up to date on your abbreviations) so I have an hour before she gets here. Well how convinient. Me being a guy only takes about 1/2 hour to shower get dressed and everything else Id do before I go out somewhere. And the cam gear technically its only one bolt I need to undo slide the timing belt off slide in the woodruff key put the new gear on line up the tdc marks on the crank slide the timing belt back on and Im done. That should only be a half hour right...........WRONG. While I was doing this I was having a little trouble sliding the timing belt back on VERY tight fit so I figured no biggy Ill just mark the groove on the cam gear the groove on the timing belt take the cam gear off the cam and put the cam gear in the belt grooves and slide the cam gear onto the cam. Well as I was sliding the cam gear back off the cam the fucking woodruff fucking key fucking falls fucking in the fucking god fucking damned fucking timing fucking belt fucking cover FUCK! I have to fucking find this thing I cant just let a woodruff key float around inside the timing belt cover. If this some how gets into a tooth on the oil or water pump gears the tensioner pully it could easily chew up the belt and cause it to snap in a non-clearance motor. This wouldnt be so bad on some cars but those who are familar with hondas know how damn close the timing belt cover is to the side wall of the engine bay making it very cramped corners to work. It would be even easier if I had a large enough air compressor and impact gun or even the moroso crank pully bolt remover tool. But no I dont have any of that. So I take all the little bolts off on the timing belt cover so I have a little bit of play with it. I start pulling on it in different directions trying to look down in each little crevice with the flashlight. No fucking luck. I take the dremel and start cutting holes in the cover in areas that I think it may be in. Finally I found the woodruff key. After half an hour of trying to get it with a magnet I finally got it. So after 4 hours of trying to simply put on a cam gear Im done. Fuck You woodruff key. I need a fucking beer.
