The R1 I got seems to be finicky about cornering compared to the busa (sounds odd huh?) the busa and 600 I had at the same speed cornering you could easily manuever the bike.. seems that this r1 doesn't want to drag knee untill you throttle it through the corner. anyways.. Personally I would go with the suzuki... great bike.
Sounds like you need to go through the suspension set up. My 1 won't fall in like my 6, but its damn close. Try
www.r1-forum.com and look up the suspension setups and go from there.
