bearings have a very deep sound when they go bad. the best way to hear it is to be under your car, under the block's crank case. have someone rev the engine for you while you are under there.
DO NOT DO THIS!!! THIS IS WRONG!!! if you do that a TON of things could go wrong!!! if it pops the rod out of the bottom of the block i dont think you want to be under there... also if it is a rod you will hear it... you dont have to get under it to hear it...
