Lesson one in car audio: There is no "universal" best. Your best bet is to think over the different features and options you'd like, compile a list of the units that have what you're looking for in your price range, and then go out to a couple different shops and play around with them. Asking such a broad question in a forum like this will only yield a million different opinions and narrow down nothing.
