what happend is there was a crash of the start, so instead of red flagging the race and letting them heat there tires , they put it under caution so there tires were cold. he was going full out in the lead and tires didnt grip and when straight in to wall, his tire came up and hit him threw visor and killed him.
the suspension was made of steel back then and not tethered down
I thought there was some theory about his steering column killing him or something? I haven't kept up with F1 as of late (ever since schumi finally won back to back titles w/ Scuderia, which wasn't TOO long ago), and I'm missing it
